Hey I can't get the videos to play!

There are several different types of video streaming in use on this site. The amateur feeds that we use on some sites are large Mpeg files that are going to take a long time to download if you're on a slow modem, there's just no way around it. Look into DSL in your area, it's worth every penny and then some if you surf the web a lot. Another good thing to do is to just left-click on the feed, there are some browsers that will play the file as it's downloaded.

Some of our video is streamed using the Realplayer© technology. This method allows the video to start playing soon after clicking the link, but the quality of the feed, again, will vary according to your modem speed. Since we use only premium video feeds, most of our feeds will work very well on speeds as slow as 28.8. You'll need to download the Realplayer software to view the video on your machine, which you can do by clicking here. If you're getting a 'file not found' error, click here and tell us which file you're getting the error from. Click here for support on any other errors.

Many of the video streams you see on the web use the default IE video software, Windows Media Player©. Like Java, these videos should open automatically and play without requiring any action on your part whatsoever. If you get an error trying to display one of these feeds, click here and tell us which video stream is having problems. If you are getting any other error with WinMedia, click here for Microsoft© support.

VIVO from VivoActive is a serverless streaming video product that compresses AVI and QuickTime files into much smaller VIVO formatted file types at a compression ratio of 250:1. Vivo is an older technology and has now been bought by RealNetworks. You can find support for this software by clicking here.

Other streaming technology used on our sites include Emblaze©, Jpeg Push (a stream of .jpg images 'pushed' to your browser from the remote server), Java© and QuickTime©, another wonderful technology brought to you by the good folks at Microsoft© :) If you think your modem might be acting up, NetMedic© is a great utility that can help you diagnose any problems you may be having with your modem speed and can be a big help in viewing the videos.

Anytime you have a problem with any of our feeds, we want to know about it! Please e-mail us and tell us exactly what happened, including any error messages you have received.
